Job Description
BACKGROUND Youngman Roofing, a leading supplier of high-quality roofing and insulation products, is looking for a suitably experienced individual to join the Group as a Production Operations Co-Ordinator . The role will serve as a key liaison between the Factory (Production) and Sales, ensuring smooth communication and efficient workflow. The successful candidate will assist with production planning as orders are captured on the system, support staff scheduling and manning, and help maintain the uptime of production equipment to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met. KEY RESPONSIBILTIES Production Planning View orders on system and plan to machines. Plan production in terms of different coil changes, and ensure machines are supplied with necessary material. Effective BLITS utilization. Ensuring a proper handover between shifts. Quality checks before production commence. Production Monitoring Ensure that production commences at agreed starting times Responsible for the timeous response to customer queries diverted to you from the sales team. Responsible for dealing with all customer queries relating to pending orders in the system. Liaise with the Factory Managers daily with regards to the execution of the production plan, updating them on changes, and minimizing deviations from the production plan. Maintain maximum production efficiencies on all machines and keep proper records of all deviations from the normal agreed company standards. Ensure that all downtime situations are correctly recorded, monitored and analyzed to optimize on the utilization of production equipment. Ensure that waste levels are within the company standards / budget allowances and that any deviations are fully recorded and accounted for. Maintenance and Repair Assist to ensure optimum plant availability and efficiency, ensuring the plant and building are maintained to operate well into the future Ensure that the preventative maintenance systems are effectively carried out Analyse all equipment for potential failures and schedule appropriate maintenance tasks or take other action to prevent failure. Conduct regular condition monitoring of equipment to detect deterioration and pre-empt failures Report all technical problems to the Factory Manager to decide on necessary corrective measures Ensure cranes and machines are repaired as required, selecting external suppliers and contractors where the skills and expertise are lacking in the business. Ensure that all equipment is calibrated and maintained using documented Work Instructions Ensure that production is planned in such a manner to allow for the required / scheduled maintenance Administration Complete all company production documents correctly and timeously and ensure that accurate daily records are kept of all production. Staff Management Responsible for the assisting in staff planning for manufacturing departments Ensure that machine operators are suitably skilled to maintain the efficient operation of the production equipment Maintain proper attendance schedules of all staff. Monitor time-keeping and attendance of your staff on a weekly basis and ensure defaulters are addressed Stock Ensure that the maintenance stock control procedures are maintained with respect to maintenance stock items / consumable items. Operations Personally manning of machines from time to time. Troubleshooting of machinery and operational equipment preventative and break downs. Customer and Relational Results Build and maintain effective external relationships with suppliers, customers, and Internal customers ensuring a functional network is developed and maintained to directly contribute to the achievement of results of the business. Build and maintain good working relationships with internal customers working towards the common goals of the business Leadership Results Assess training needs on a regular basis, and arrange training where necessary to fulfil specific functions, and ensure continuous development to ensure a multi-skilled team. Demonstrate a clear pattern of self-development and learning Ensure compliance of all employees to all company and legislative policies and procedure. SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Grade 12 or equivalent Relevant tertiary qualifications Minimum 8 years experience in the Metal industry, with 2 years experience in a supervisory position. Product knowledge, roof sheeting machinery Valid overhead crane license advantageous Strong leadership skills Good Organisational Skills and Follow-up Skills Good Communication Skills Ability to work well in a team Ability to see all tasks through to its finality.
