Are you a passionate and dedicated academic mentor? Are you able to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and also have a background in a Health and Social Care further education? If you are then we have the opportunity for you at Opogo. The Role: We are seeking an Academic mentor to work with a student in a one-to-one capacity, supporting them with their SEHM needs and visual impairment. The setting is an excellent 6th Form College in Kensington & Chelsea with outstanding pupil engagement. Key responsibilities: Supporting a young adult in reaching their potential in a post-16 setting Utilising strategies for supporting students with visual impairments in academic learning Knowledge of common SEMH challenges and approaches for building emotional resilience Ability to differentiate learning materials and adapt resources for accessibility Proficient in using assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers, magnification tools) Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills Qualifications and experience: Previous experience working in an educational setting, ideally at post-16 level A Health & Social Care degree or degree from a related field is advantageous Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), especially visual impairment and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs Experience supporting students 1:1 in vocational or academic subjects Experience working within a Catholic or faith-based educational setting is desirable Familiarity with EHCP processes and SEND Code of Practice The pay range advertised is based on employment through an umbrella company.
