Maintenance Electrician

JOB TITLE: Maintenance Electrician LOCATION: Hartlepool or Teesport (depending on experience) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Role Overview TEXO Recruitment are currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician for one of our external clients. The successful candidate will be based at either Hartlepool or Teesport, depending on whether their experience is more aligned with crane systems or mobile plant and site-based electrical systems. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic engineering team responsible for maintaining a diverse range of port assets. Whether your background is more crane-focused or rooted in broader industrial maintenance, we’re looking for adaptable professionals who can apply their expertise across multiple systems. Key Responsibilities Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections on electrical systems and equipment. Diagnose and repair faults across crane systems, mobile plant, and site infrastructure. Respond promptly to breakdowns, minimizing operational disruption. Apply your specialist knowledge (whether in crane systems, mobile plant, or site infrastructure) to support the wider engineering team. Work with a range of electrical components, including AC/DC motors, power electronics, and control systems. Ensure all work is completed in line with safety regulations and best practices. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and parts usage. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support planned projects. Participate in safety audits and contribute to a proactive HSE culture. Required Experience & Qualifications Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Essential). ONC / Level 3 qualification (minimum); HNC/HND preferred. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment post-apprenticeship. Strong working knowledge of: Electromechanical devices (solenoids, thrusters, actuators) AC/DC motors and drivetrains up to 400kW Power electronics (inverters, rectifiers) Motor control methods (soft start, DOL, VSDs, resistance banks, thyristors) Switching devices (relays, contactors, circuit breakers, proximity switches) Industrial communication networks (Canbus, Asibus, Profibus, Profinet, Fibre optics) PLC systems (Siemens Step5/Step7, ABB, Danfoss, CoDeSys) 12v/24v mobile plant systems and building electrical systems Physical Requirements Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Capable of working at height and in physically demanding environments.
