Based in a world class Horizon North camp facility, the regular shift for this position is 20 days on and 10 days off, with 10-hour workdays. Transportation is provided to site from a designated pick up point. As a Baker , you will delight our clients by preparing and baking goods to the highest standards of Horizon North. This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing as a condition of employment. Your work will include: Identify areas of improvement on the overall operation as necessary Preparing and baking goods from scratch in large quantities Restocking pastry shelves and maintaining a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods Creating and following menus to ensure quality of baked goods, squares, pies, cakes and hot desserts Ensuring consistent quality standard in over-all food preparation as per clientsu2019 requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints Complying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act & HACCP Following all safety regulated policies set out by the organization Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing equipment and over-all work areas Other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managment. FoodSafe Level I is a minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset. Education: Culinary Program Graduate or Red Seal certified Pastry Chef required. Minimum 5 yearsu2019 baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment Proven experience preparing baked goods for large number of guests Prior supervisory experience Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 45 pounds Successful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
