Actual salary for term-time only £26,134 - £32,993 pa Hours: 36 hours per week 8.15am - 4.15pm Contract: Fixed term contract until 31st August 2026 We are seeking to appoint from September an energetic and dynamic EAL and Community Languages Co-ordinator to help EAL students access the curriculum and to support whole school initiatives on community cohesion. This candidate must be able to work independently as they are the only EAL coordinator and report to 1 teaching member of staff. About the role Working closely with the Head of EAL and Community Cohesion, your role will include: Supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in the classroom, on a one to one basis and in tutorials to enable them to access the curriculum fully. Coordinating with other staff on ways to develop students literacy and setting students meaningful homework that allows them to progress independently in developing their English Language. Helping run the community language programme which allows students to take an extra exam in their home language, through the promotion of, coordination of and assistance in the assessment of papers. Supporting or leading on projects which aim to enhance 'community cohesion' in the School. These will include: 'International Evening': a concert for Year 7 to take part in by performing pieces from around the world. 'Refugee Week': promoting refugee week. Running 'Bilingual Book Club'. Coordinate with pastoral staff about the induction and well being of new to school students where english is not their first language and act to support them and their family feel welcome in the school community. Being a form tutor and member of the school community.
