Compensation is based on total years of experience in previous clinical roles. In this role, you'll care for patients in all of our 12 serviced counties . You will be working 40 hours each week . POSITION TITLE Nurse Educator – Classroom & Home CareFLAS STATUS ExemptREPORTS TO Education Program CoordinatorPOSITION OBJECTIVE Leads classroom-based education and orientation for the nursing department, focusing on policy, procedure, and documentation training. Coordinates educational programming, competency assessments, and professional development for home-based nursing staff. QUALIFICATIONS Current RN license in Indiana; BSN preferred Minimum 2 years of hospice or home care experience Strong interpersonal, teaching, and communication skills Knowledgeable about end-of-life care including pain/symptom management Teach staff of all levels in a clear and empathetic manner Plan and implement changes and flex between roles as necessary CPR certification (Instructor preferred or obtained within 6 months) Proficiency in electronic documentation system and other computer skills Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintain consistent hours working in Hospice Home Care Manage the Nursing Preceptor Program, ensuring all preceptors meet standards and complete required training. Train and support new nursing staff, providing guidance on clinical practices and policies. Delivers hands-on training across all nursing roles, including CNA, RN, LPN, triage, admissions, and more. Works with the Education Program Coordinator and nursing leaders to design personalized orientation plans and daily schedules for new hires. Oversee the nursing student education program, coordinating contracts with colleges and universities in conjunction with Education Program Coordinator. Evaluates new nursing staff during orientation, documents progress, and recommends additional training if needed. Coordinates nursing orientation logistics, including scheduling and ensuring all training is completed before patient care begins. Assess nursing staff training needs with nursing leadership to identify areas for development. Help create or arrange educational materials and sessions based on identified needs. Maintain records of in-service attendance and training content in the learning management system. Work with leaders to assess staff competency in clinical skills, infection control, and agency procedures. Support implementation of clinical policies and protocols across the agency. Provide help with electronic documentation systems for all staff. Participate in quality improvement projects and agency committees as needed. GENERAL FUNCTIONS Participate in annual competency planning and education scheduling Conduct staff needs assessments and revise training accordingly Maintain compliance with CHAP, state, and federal regulations Serves as a role model and resource person for all nursing staff. Seeing: Constant Must have visual, hearing and mental ability to initiate and comprehend written and verbal communication. Must be able to engage in clear, concise verbal/non-verbal communication Must have ability to remain calm in occasional emergency situations Recognizes emergencies and has knowledge of emergency procedures, according to Agency policy. ESSENTIAL HAZARDOUS PHYSICAL EXPOSURES: Potential exposure to environmental pollutants Potential exposure to variable temperatures in working environment Potential threat of physical violence to self. CHEMICAL OR HAZARDOUS PHYSICAL EXPOSURES: Potential exposure to substances within office environment, including copy machine toner, VDT emissions, cleaning solvents, and medical supply chemicals. ESSENTIAL PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Seat belts must be worn when traveling during working hours according to state law. The published compensation range for this position reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The base pay may be higher or lower based on demonstrated job-related experience.
