Mission:

We’ve identified the day-to-day responsibilities linked to each position. In addition to the position specific responsibilities provided below, each YWCA Clark County employee must share responsibility for upholding and modeling the organization’s core value on a daily basis:

  • Assure that participants, staff, volunteers and community partners are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background.
  • Gain approval for, track, and engage in activities that meet the organization’s 1% for Social Change requirement.
  • Think through the lens of racial equity and its intersections with poverty. Use the core principles of anti-racism and grounding those principles in all daily tasks
  • Incorporate the YWCA’s commitment to social justice by understanding how racism, sexism, classism and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions. Seek opportunities for continued learning about racial, gender and class equity.
  • Recruit and onboard event-based and ongoing volunteers, ensuring compliance with screening and documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate volunteers for organizational events such as Holiday Shop, Shine Gala, QueerCouve, BIPOC Youth Summit, and corporate service days.
  • Partner with the Corporate & Community Partnerships Officer to support corporate volunteer experiences and coordinate logistics.
  • Maintain up-to-date volunteer database records, including hours served and areas of service.
  • Conduct volunteer check-ins, gather feedback, and implement improvements.
  • Support program staff by assisting with volunteer role descriptions, recruitment strategies, and conflict resolution as needed.
  • Plan and implement volunteer recognition efforts.
  • Lead scheduling and coordination of YWCA’s Core Training program at least three times per year, including recruitment of staff facilitators, updating content, and collecting feedback.
  • Maintain volunteer personnel files and ensure compliance with required screening, training, and background checks.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and Compliance Manager on audit preparation, contract compliance, and reporting needs.
  • Coordinate with supervisor and program leads on volunteer retention planning and feedback loops.
  • Monitor related expenditures and collaborate with supervisor on the volunteer program budget.
  • Participate in equity and trauma-informed care training and integrate these practices into volunteer engagement.
  • Monitor and track volunteer-to-donor conversion rates in collaboration with the Donor Engagement Officer
  • Tag and segment volunteers in CRM for tailored communication and stewardship
  • Send quarterly volunteer newsletters and schedule automated email follow-ups for inquiries and lapsed volunteers
  • Coordinate with the Corporate & Community Partnerships Officer to support group volunteer service days and ensure accurate data entry of participants


There is a strong social justice component to all program positions within YWCA, requiring critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty and other forms of oppression. Knowing the core principles of anti-racism and grounding those principles in everyday work are required job skills and core values. 


 Required Experience and Knowledge:

  • 2+ years of experience working with volunteers in a nonprofit, community, or event setting.
  • Strong soft skills that support clear communication, reduce conflict, and promote positive peer and volunteer experiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and track volunteer data accurately.
  • Comfort with public speaking and outreach.
  • Resourceful and able to resolve challenges while knowing when it’s time to stop and ask questions or seek additional guidance.
  • Effectively use common software programs (like MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint) to fulfill position related expectations.
  • Familiarity with volunteer management systems or databases preferred.

 

Strong ability to lead: supervisors make sure the day-to-day work gets done; leaders do so while strategically motivating staff and volunteers to improve performance and further the mission of the organization. 

Ability to work in a team: modify the way a challenge is resolved if it is in the best interest of the organization and participants to do so. 

Strong project management skills: maintain a strategic focus while simultaneously managing multiple projects, deadlines, goals, and program needs. 

Strong problem-solving skills: resourceful and able to resolve challenges while knowing when it’s time to stop and ask questions or seek additional guidance. 

Strong technological skills: effectively use common software programs (like MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint) to fulfill position related expectations. 

Strong soft-skills: adapt work and communication style to mitigate unnecessary tension, improve efficiency, increase morale, and make programmatic improvements with little or no prompting.
