Job Description

Are you a creative and curious MSc student with a passion for food, science, and communication? Do you enjoy working on multi-disciplinary projects and want to explore how scientific research can be shared with the world? EFFoST is looking for a motivated Science Communication Intern to support both EU-funded projects and internal communications. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to projects that promote research, innovation, and collaboration in the food science and technology sector. As part of an international team of 8, you’ll work in a dynamic environment that offers real-world experience in science communication, event planning, and project dissemination. You’ll gain valuable insights into EU-funded research, non-profit operations, and the broader world of food innovation. About EFFoST The European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST) facilitates the knowledge and technology exchange among food professionals. EFFoST creates opportunities for food scientists, engineers, technologists, policymakers, and businesses in food and food-related areas to connect and collaborate to enhance the uptake of new technologies and developments. By supporting the further development of food science and technology, EFFoST aims to advance the production of sustainable and healthy food for all in a changing world. To achieve this, EFFoST builds and sustains a European network for knowledge transfer, leveraging its community of food science and technology professionals. This is accomplished through The EFFoST Annual Conference, the EFFoST Scientific Society, and our Working Groups. Furthermore, EFFoST participates in food-related EU-funded projects, taking responsibility for disseminating knowledge, engaging stakeholders, and ensuring the effective exploitation of results. These projects span a wide range of topics, from developing advanced technologies to creating societal impact by supporting innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises. Your tasks will include: · Researching trends, markets, and new developments in food science and technology, including competitor analysis; · Assisting with content creation for newsletters, websites, and social media channels; · Supporting the development of communication and marketing strategies for EFFoST and EU project dissemination; · Assist with the organization of events, conferences, and webinars to facilitate knowledge exchange; · Communicating project results at meetings and in written reports; · Writing and editing articles for various platforms including online media, trade magazines, peer-reviewed publications, etc.; · Reviewing and analyzing existing communication materials (such as websites and social media) and providing recommendations for improvement What we are looking for: • You are currently enrolled in an MSc program in communication, marketing, food science, or a related field; • You have a strong interest in science communication, especially within the food sector; • Willing and able to travel to Wageningen at least 3 days per week; • Strong oral and written communication skills; • Excellent knowledge of English, both orally and in writing; • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks; • Flexible, organized, and able to meet deadlines; • Knowledge of website management/ design (WordPress); • Knowledge of graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop); • Solution-oriented and able to take the initiative. We offer 36-hours working week; The possibility to work hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week at the office; Monthly compensation of 350 EUR, gross, plus contribution to commuting costs; Starting date: September 2025; contract period: 6 months.
