Job Description
Main purpose of the job: To administer the capturing, distribution and processing of all specimens and ensuring that correct information is obtained and recorded for specimen storage Division: Wits Diagnostic and Innovation Hub Location: Parktown Key performance areas: Verify if information on the sample is the same as the laboratory request form Verify if samples tube lot number is valid and capture on the laboratory request form with Initial of document, date, time of receipt and signature Log samples on the sample receipt spread sheet and filing of records Data entry of specimens according to defined protocols for private patients and clinical trials on databases Coordination of sample shipping and storage Ensure equipment maintenance is carried out as per schedule Log, label and store samples on LIMS (e.g. LDMS/LABWARE) systems Monitor and control stock levels PBMC processing and storage according to SOPs and protocols Logging and quality control of PBMC samples on LIMS Review of data on worksheets and LIMs to ensure accurate reports are sent out Pipette validations and participation in EQAs Elispot processing Malaria EQA survey coordination and results analysis Slide stock management at the Malaria EQA lab Ensure suitable cleaning and preparation of equipment components such as racks and glassware Report any problems with equipment to manager and troubleshooting Assist manager or designee prepare equipment calibration schedule. Send pipettes for calibration.
