Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Certified Surgical Technologist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: 07/21/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel 2 Shift options - 5 8s starting in July. 4 10s starting in September. Position Summary: The Certified Surgical Technician is an integral member of the surgical team, providing support to surgeons by preparing, providing, and maintaining instruments and equipment, and ensuring a sterile field during operations. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a Surgical Technology program preferred. Certifications/Licenses: BLS certification from AHA required prior to the end of the probationary period. Surgical Tech certification required. Skills: Knowledge of instrument and equipment care and handling. Understanding of sterilization and cleansing procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital operating room or instrument care environment preferred. Responsibilities: Support surgeons during operations by preparing and providing instruments and equipment. Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures. Adhere to Universal Precautions and Right to Know protocols. Utilize protective equipment to minimize exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Supervision: Responsible to: Clinical Manager, Operating Room, and Director, Surgical Services. Work Environment: Exposure to bloodborne pathogens (Category C). Protective equipment provided by the hospital, including cleaning, repair, and replacement. Tools available to prevent worker injuries. Physical Requirements: Heavy physical effort, including prolonged standing, walking, or lifting. Ability to speak, hear, and communicate verbally and in writing.
