About the Role An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Estimator (Quantity Surveyor) to join the commercial team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in a specialist environment, with the support of a tailored development plan and hands-on mentoring. The role is open to candidates from a civil engineering background within groundworks who are looking to transition into estimating , as well as those with around 2 years’ experience in a similar commercial or site-based role. You’ll work on a diverse range of projects across Scotland that typically aren’t accessible to new or early-career professionals, gaining exposure to unique challenges in asset maintenance and repair. Key Responsibilities Assist in collecting and assessing site records and data to support cost control and value recovery Prepare cost estimates for concrete repair and maintenance works, including materials, labour, and equipment Support the administration and management of subcontract work packages throughout project lifecycles Conduct site visits to gather accurate measurements and assess repair requirements Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to understand the technical and commercial aspects of each project Gain knowledge of various contract types and commercial procedures Progress toward professional accreditation and Chartered Membership Ideal Candidate Profile A minimum of a HNC/D or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Law, or a relevant discipline Open to those with 2 years of relevant experience or those with a civil engineering background in groundworks looking to move into estimating Strong communication and relationship-building skills A practical understanding of construction or engineering environments (desirable) Full eligibility to work and live in the UK at time of joining Full UK driver’s licence Benefits Competitive salary, reviewed regularly Contributory pension scheme Company vehicle or car allowance Full coverage of professional membership fees Private healthcare and life assurance 26 days annual leave (rising to 28) plus bank holidays Three paid volunteer days per year Evening class and hobby allowances Gym discounts and cycle-to-work scheme
