Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineer

JOB PURPOSE: Research analyses and evaluates requirements for Control & Instrumentation systems. Designs, develops, tests, Commissions and maintains Electrical, control & instrumentation systems and reviews the work done in cases where the activities are outsourced. JOB SPECIFICATIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: System Design and Development: Create and develop electrical control systems and instrumentation solutions across all project phases, from concept to detailed design. Evaluates electrical, control and instrumentation systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of electrical engineering. Write program code for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), design and configure Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and HMIs according to the customer requirements. Technical Documentation: Prepare schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation for electrical systems, ensuring all designs meet project specifications and regulatory standards. Calculate, design, specify material for manufacturing and installation, and supervise the electrical design, manufacturing and installation of MCCs, PLC panels, SCADA and HMI. Testing and Commissioning: Conduct functional tests, debugging, and troubleshooting of electrical control systems to ensure correct functionality and integration. Oversee the commissioning of electrical systems, automation of PLC, SCADA, HMI, and instruments. Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, and civil engineers, to ensure seamless project execution and integration of E,C&I systems. To assist, when and as required, in project cost estimates for tender projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of projects or services. Confirms system's and components' capabilities of each project requirements. Supervise & train junior design engineers, manufacturing process and commissioning. Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all electrical and instrumentation designs comply with relevant international standards and codes of practice. Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental issues throughout the project lifecycle. Identification of potential hazards and the production of Risk Assessments / Method Statements required to ensure the safe undertaking of electrical and mechanical installation work. Project Management: Develop project schedules and budgets, monitor and review the performance of electrical engineering management systems, and implement improvements to optimize the efficiency of engineering activities. Responsible for management of project specific deliverables General & Training Development To undertake professional development activities to maintain and extent competence. Undertake Specific Client Training as required to fulfil role. Undertake other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the level of this post as required from time to time. Qualifications Grade 12 National Diploma Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation B-Tech in Electrical Engineering (Advantage) Experience 5 Years Experience in Electrical Engineering 3-5 years Experience working with Siemens Systems like PLC, HMI & SCADA (Compulsory) Proffessional Membership ECSA Candidate Closing Date: 25 July 2025
