Head of Chemistry – Independent Senior School – Downton – September 2025 Start A leading co-educational independent school in Downton, located just south of Salisbury, is looking to appoint an ambitious and visionary Head of Chemistry to lead the department from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to shape and enhance a dynamic academic provision. The school has a long-standing tradition of excellence in science education, with a strong cohort of pupils achieving top grades at GCSE and A-Level. The science block is well-equipped, and the Chemistry department is known for its academic depth, enrichment opportunities, and innovative teaching approaches. The successful Head of Chemistry will be responsible for: * Leading curriculum development and assessment strategy for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level Chemistry * Mentoring departmental staff and supporting Early Career Teachers * Overseeing lab safety, stock control, and budget management with the support of technicians * Coordinating science competitions, lecture series, and collaborations with universities * Actively contributing to the life of the school through boarding involvement and enrichment This role would suit a highly capable Chemistry specialist with prior experience of leadership or someone ready to take the next step in their teaching career.
