Job Description

Principal Transport Planner We are looking for an experienced Principal Transport Planner to join and help grow an early stages transport planning team in Bristol. This is an exciting chance for someone who thrives on both managing a team and delivering high-quality transport planning projects across a diverse range of developments in the South West. Key Responsibilities: ·Lead the preparation and review of Transport Statements, Assessments, Travel Plans, and transport sections of Environmental Statements for complex projects. ·Manage and coordinate multiple projects, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across the team. ·Act as the principal company representative in meetings with clients, planners, architects, and contractors. ·Provide expert input into site access designs and masterplanning, considering all modes of transport to ensure sustainable, practical solutions. ·Maintain strict adherence to quality standards and procedures within our Quality Management System. ·Oversee resource allocation and project budgeting to ensure efficient delivery and commercial success. ·Mentor, guide, and support junior planners and graduates, fostering professional growth and technical excellence. ·Play an active role in growing the transport planning team and developing new business opportunities in the Bristol region. Ideal Candidate: ·Holds a relevant degree (or equivalent) and is working towards or holds a professional transport planning qualification such as CIHT or RTPI. ·Has substantial experience in transport planning, ideally within a consultancy environment, with a history of managing complex projects. ·Skilled in client engagement and confident in leading project meetings and discussions. ·Commercially aware, with understanding of project finances and resource management. ·Proficient in data analysis and familiar with junction modelling software like JUNCTIONS, LinSig, or similar tools. ·Knowledgeable about current transport design standards, able to lead design reviews and undertake design work using AutoCAD or equivalent. ·Demonstrates integrity, values collaboration, and takes pride in delivering work that contributes positively to the profession and community.
