Job Description
Based in Somerset West - My client, a leader in the design and development of mission-critical systems for the aerospace and defence industries, is seeking an exceptional and passionate engineer to join their dynamic hardware team. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong academic background and a keen interest in contributing to high-reliability systems. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the mechanical design and integration of systems such as avionics enclosures, antenna trackers, ground control stations, aircraft integration packs, and interface solutions. The environment is structured around formal hardware development processes to ensure high standards of safety, reliability, and performance. Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be employed as a Hardware Engineer , with responsibilities including (but not limited to): Formal design, development, implementation, and verification of mechanical and electromechanical systems and subsystems. Participating in both high-level architecture planning and detailed low-level design and verification. Contributing to project engineering outputs, including technical design documentation and verification artefacts. Supporting engineering processes and practices tailored to safety- and mission-critical development environments. Assisting in production efforts such as procurement, supplier management, subassembly and final assembly, testing, qualification, and environmental stress screening. Taking on occasional general support roles within the organization as required. Minimum Requirements: A Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (BSc Eng/BEng or equivalent). Demonstrated academic excellence. Required Skills & Experience: Proficiency in CAD tools, mechanical design, 3D modelling, structural simulation, and thermal analysis. Preferred (Not Mandatory) Experience: 23 years of relevant industry or postgraduate experience. Familiarity with CAM techniques such as laser cutting, CNC machining, or 3D printing. A Masters degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering (MSc Eng/MEng). Additional Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Fast learner with the ability to absorb technical knowledge quickly. Effective communicator with excellent written and verbal skills in English. Capable of both collaborative teamwork and independent execution of tasks.
