Job Description
Security Support Specialist Provide security support for two or more security programs (e.g., Personnel Security (PERSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Foreign Disclosure (FD), Information Security (INFOSEC), and Technical Security), including associated training requirements. Apply, interpret, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards for the protection of classified information. Provide authoritative information regarding personnel security clearance requirements, SCI access, and adjudicative guidelines to internal and external customers. As a Foreign Disclosure Officer, coordinate disclosure actions for the release of Classified Military Information (CMI) to foreign government representatives in support of U.S. Army international programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment include a two-year trial/probationary period. Must pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter, in accordance with AR 600-85. Must undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation / SSBI with eligibility for SCI. May require up to 25% Temporary Duty (TDY) travel. This position is part of the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. Qualifications Eligible applicants include: 10-Point Other Veterans’ Rating 30 Percent or More Disabled Veterans 5-Point Veterans' Preference Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Current Department of Defense Civilian Employees (non-Army) Current DoD Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) Employees DHA Recent Graduates Non-DoD Transfer Employees Priority Placement Program participants, including DoD Military Reserve and National Guard Technicians, and those eligible for disability retirement or retained grade preferences. To qualify, you must have at least one year of experience equivalent to GS/GG-11 level, including oversight of an organization's security program and support for at least two security programs such as PERSEC, INDUSEC, FD, INFOSEC, or Technical Security. Note: Education cannot substitute experience for this position. Evaluation will be based on competencies in: Information Security Security Education, Training, and Awareness Specialized experience includes responsible security work at a level comparable to the next lower grade, encompassing military, private sector, or other government agency experience.
