Job Description

If you like small town living, this position in Drayton Valley might be for you! Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. The town has a population of over 7,000. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and a ski hill. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park. As members of the multidisciplinary health care team, Licensed Practical Nurses working within their scope of practice collaborate on the delivery of care to meet the needs of clients. LPN’s assist with the provision of nursing care to individuals in all developmental stages, contribute to the nursing diagnosis, and participate in nursing interventions and outcomes. You will be required to work weekends and must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Physically able to perform all assigned tasks and may involve physical exertion not limited to climbing stairs, walking outside, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and carrying which may involve visits to client homes that are not ideal. Experience with Connect Care, Microsoft Office and general computer skills is an asset. Experience with wound care is an asset. 1-2 years previous experience in home care or acute care is an asset.
