QUALIFICATIONS * Grade 12 education (MB Standards) * Willingness to complete and practice ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) * Willingness to complete and practice NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) * Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training as delineated in Prairie Mountain Health Policy PPG-00002 CPR Training * Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health * Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology * Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently * Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills * Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment * Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position * Demonstrated communication skills * Ability to respect and promote confidentiality * Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis * Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population * Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients and within interdisciplinary team As a member of the Westman Crisis Service team, the Community Crisis Worker I (CWI) assists in the provision of crisis intervention services to clients, their families, and natural supports.The Community Crisis Worker I assists the team in the intake assessment, ongoing treatment planning, the resolution of the crisis, formulation of discharge planning and documentation of all care. The Community Crisis Worker I is responsible for the care and maintenance of the building and property, meals and a miscellany of support tasks. RESPONSIBILITIES: Overview: The CW1 assists the team with intake, assessment, treatment plans, discharge, and follow-up plans to clients and their families in crisis situations. Answers the phone lines and identifies the needs of the callers; Assists the Nurse to provide follow-up to ensure service delivery and resolution to immediate crisis; Directs all queries regarding admission referrals to the Nurse; Assist the Nurse to complete the admission process, ensures all admission requirements are completed; Provides empathetic, supportive counselling to clients and their natural supports; Provide crisis intervention to ensure safety, alleviate symptoms and empower clients; Assist clients with goal plans; As directed by the Nurse, accompanies clients to activities or appointments; Assist with health record documentation, organization and management; Provides assistance, support, direction, and orientation to new or casual staff as directed; Other duties as assigned.
