The role of a Social Media Video Content Creator at Canonical We're seeking an energetic and creative video content creator to join our social media team and develop our video program to enhance Canonical's visibility. Our social media channels serve as a bridge between the creators of our products and our users. With audiences in the millions, our online communities facilitate interaction, feedback, and engagement around topics like opensource, Kubernetes, launch previews, and more, involving developers, tech enthusiasts, and security engineers worldwide. In this role, you will shape and expand our video content, aiming for growth in audience engagement and metrics, while fostering collaboration within our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and marketing, eager to learn and improve, and skilled in problem-solving, experimentation, automation, and organization. Location : This position is based in the EMEA region, within the communications team, reporting to the director of communications. Daily responsibilities include: Creating storylines for videos from conception to delivery. Building an engaged community and enhancing brand presence through unique video content. Developing new video concepts for marketing and communication initiatives. Optimizing video content for creativity and performance. Researching and implementing innovative tools and solutions for scalable video programs. Producing engaging reels and videos for social media that are on-brand. Editing videos to suit social media formats, capturing our brand's personality. Applying social media and SEO best practices to video content. Managing the video lifecycle appropriately. Qualifications and skills we seek: A strong portfolio demonstrating video editing and social media skills. Proficiency with video editing software. Understanding of social media and communication best practices. Experience with at least four social media platforms such as LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Knowledge of web analytics tools like Google Analytics is a plus. Strong conceptual skills and branding affinity. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage projects, with experience in tools like Jira being advantageous. Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
