Preferred experience as an RN in a Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Lab.License: Registered NurseCertifications: Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life SupportMust-Have: Nursing degree, either Bachelor’s or Associate Degree; or a Nursing Diploma from an accredited program with the requirement to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree within 36 months of hire.Job Description:- Provide professional nursing care within the Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Laboratory requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills consistent with hospital policy, procedure, philosophy, and licensure.- Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, peripheral procedures, endovascular aneurysm repair, electrophysiology procedures, and interventional neurology procedures.- Conduct various cardiac tests to monitor heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment.- Prepare procedure rooms and patients for procedures, obtaining and recording patient information, and assisting physicians by circulating procedures.- Perform blood work analysis and operate intra-cardiac ultrasound.- Direct and practice safety guidelines for staff and patients.- Independently function during diagnostic and interventional procedures, maintaining high expertise in specialty procedures within assigned lab.- Work varied hours, shift lengths, and respond to an on-call pager, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.- Prepare patient care and procedure area prior to patient arrival or procedure start to ensure safe, efficient delivery of care.- Review charts for scheduled patients, ensuring documentation, lab results, and consent are present prior to procedures and communicate any concerns to the physician or Nurse Practitioner.- Provide complete systems assessment, monitoring for immediate pre- and post-procedural cardiovascular and electrophysiology patients, and provide appropriate handoff to receiving RN.- Participate in the Full Stop and/or Time Out process prior to procedures, per hospital and unit policies.- Administer procedural sedation according to hospital and unit policies.- Accurately document handoffs, pre- and post-procedure care in the electronic documentation system in real time.- Independently circulate all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Lab, accurately recording procedures in documentation systems.- Maintain an ongoing safe, therapeutic environment for all patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.- Actively participate in the preceptorship of new staff members.- Enhance professional growth through education, workshops, in-services, and current literature. Maintain required certifications and complete yearly unit and hospital mandates.- Perform all other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
