Head of Estates

Morgan Hunt is currently recruiting for an Interim Head of Estates near Manchester to play a key role in the Client’s Estates Team. About the Role: You will lead the development and implementation of an Estates strategic plan, delivering high-quality services to a large, complex organization. With a proven track record of driving change and performance improvement, you will manage in-house teams, oversee facilities management, and coordinate external contracts effectively. Responsibilities: Support the Assistant Director of Estates in progressing the strategic development of the college estate, including capital projects, site condition surveys, refurbishments, disposals, and acquisitions, aligned with the Estates Strategy. Ensure delivery of cost-effective, high-quality services across the college, covering planned and reactive maintenance, catering, caretaking, cleaning, waste management, and security. Lead all Estates Services Team functions, including property development, facilities maintenance, and Health and Safety, to provide high standards of service across the estate. Act as the main point of contact between college senior leadership and the central Estates Professional Services Team. Lead and manage the college Estates Services Team to deliver a full service in maintaining and developing the estate, including project management, contract oversight, and evaluation of alternative procurement methods. Promote a customer-first approach, continuous improvement, and best practice. Line manage and support departmental managers, prioritise tasks, and monitor performance in alignment with college goals. Provide transformational leadership, develop leadership and professional skills, and ensure succession planning. Qualifications A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred, alongside senior management experience and expertise in estates strategy, capital projects, and operational services is desirable
