Section Head (Communications and Information Systems) LOCATION: [Insert Location] GRADE: [Insert Grade] SECURITY CLEARANCE: NATO SECRET VACANCY: OLN SCXX 0010 Employment contract: Definite Duration contract - 2 years 1. POST CONTEXT The Joint Logistics Support Group Headquarters commands and controls assigned logistic, engineer, and medical units for the execution of JTF’s operational level plan. The Support Branch is responsible for supporting the JLSG HQ mission execution. The Communication and Information System Section (CIS) develops and coordinates CIS plans and concepts in support of operational (COPs / OPLANs) CIS support for the JLSG HQ. The incumbent is responsible for CIS support of the Joint Logistics Support Group HQ (JLSG HQ). The incumbent reports to the Branch Head (Support) OF-5. 2. DUTIES The Section Head's duties are : Act as the Head of the CIS Section of JLSG HQ, reporting directly to the Branch Head (Support). Advise COS JLSG HQ on all CIS matters and coordinate CIS decisions. Support the development of tactical plans, concepts, procedures, and training for JLSG HQ. Coordinate and prepare CIS Annexes of JLSG GRPs and OPLANs. Ensure CIS supporting JLSG HQ and subordinate units meet deployed Information Exchange Requirements (IERs). Monitor CIS situation with subordinate units, maintain situational awareness during deployment, and report incidents. Advise on CIS and Cyber issues and resolve related incidents. Serve as the point of contact between JLSG Staff and CIS providing elements. Coordinate deployment of NATO CIS within JLSG HQ and units. Oversee efficient operation of all CIS assets and supervise asset settlement. Coordinate Cyber Defence, INFOSEC, and Frequency Management issues. The incumbent may perform similar duties elsewhere as directed and undertake deployments or TDY assignments within and outside NATO. 3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL University Degree in IT and Communications with 6 years of relevant experience, or Higher Secondary education with advanced vocational training or equivalent, leading to professional qualification, with 6 years of experience and 2 years in a related function. Broad technical knowledge in Communications and Information Systems, including DCIS assets. Proven experience in CIS planning and risk assessment. Experience in defining CIS requirements and network design for deployable operations. Experience in developing CIS contingency plans. English proficiency at NATO standard level “professional” (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing). DESIRABLE Experience in staff roles within G6 operations, installation, and maintenance of communication capabilities. Previous NATO assignment experience. POSITION AND CANDIDATE PROFILE The candidate must demonstrate courtesy, tact, diplomacy, mental alertness, negotiating skills, and service-mindedness. Good health, stress tolerance, and the ability to work long hours are essential. Frequent travel on temporary duty is required. Managerial Responsibilities First-line reporting responsibilities include managing 1x OF-3 and 1x OR-7 staff. Professional Contacts Regular interaction with counterparts within NATO is required.
