Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor & Delivery - Nights Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience preferred License: RN - Registered Nurse or RN - Compact Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Provider or NRP - Provisional ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ACLS - Provisional Must-Have: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, and safe patient care. The RN will practice in a clinical environment supported by nurse managers and other leaders. Competencies are derived from established models of professional practice and are supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the state Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the relevant nursing association. As part of the patient services team, the RN emphasizes patient voice and supports service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: The RN performs the Nursing Process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Care is individualized and coordinated to achieve optimal patient outcomes using evidence-based practices and critical thinking. The RN will provide patient-centered care that reflects understanding of diverse populations. They partner with patients and their families throughout care delivery. The RN will coordinate safe, quality patient care through effective interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation. They demonstrate teamwork and fiscal responsibility while promoting an inclusive clinical environment. Participation in performance improvement initiatives and research is expected. The RN is responsible for ongoing professional competency assessment and continuous education. They serve as mentors for other nurses and staff, fostering a qualified workforce. Promotion of evidence-based practice and adherence to healthcare policies is essential. The RN will proactively plan patient care and participate in protocol development to achieve best practice outcomes. Efficiency in the use of resources is expected. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
