Job Description Job Description About the Position We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Litigation/Trial Attorney with 5-10 years experience to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to representing victims and families in Elder Abuse and Wrongful Death cases. This Attorney will provide legal counsel, advocacy, and representation through trial and/or appeal for victims and their families in elder abuse and wrongful death cases. This position does not have a monthly billable hour requirement, however attorney hours are tracked for plaintiff's fee award petitions and admin use. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities Legal Representation: Provide legal representation for victims and their families in wrongful death and elder abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, and other forms of mistreatment. Case Management: Manage a caseload of elder abuse cases, from pre-litigation through trial, conducting thorough investigations, executing an organized discovery and trial plan, gathering evidence, and collaborating with health care providers, consultants and experts while also implementing a strong settlement strategy parallel to working up cases for trial. Advocacy: Advocate for the rights of victims and families in wrongful death and elder neglect and abuse cases. Client Communication: Maintain regular communication and rapport with clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their cases, explaining legal processes, understanding their harms and losses to develop their damages work-up, and addressing their concerns. Collaboration: Collaborate with public agencies, medical professionals, and other relevant parties to build strong case work-up. Legal Research: Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and precedents related to elder abuse, and apply procedural and substantive legal knowledge to build effective cases. Legal Team Support: Provide support to other attorneys within the firm in a team environment, with a demonstrated willingness to contribute and collaborate with team members with the goal of achieving best case results for our clients. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and four-year college degree. Admission to the California state bar and in good standing. Minimum 5 years civil litigation experience in California state and federal courts. (Preferred but not required: previous experience in elder law, business litigation, or medical malpractice). Strong litigation skills and experience in handling complex legal cases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Commitment to ethical and professional standards. Jury Trial and binding arbitration experience. Minimum 1-3 jury trial and/or binding arbitration experience required.
