About Envision: Envision Energy is the only 100% fully integrated OEM for utility-scale energy storage systems. As pioneers in the industry, we manufacture our own cells (AESC), DC storage systems, bi-directional inverters (PCS), transformers, PPC, EMS, and SCADA. We then connect these components seamlessly to construct power plants fuelled by batteries, displacing traditional coal and gas generators. This shift enables sustainable viability for renewable energy sources like solar and wind. About the role: The Commercial Manager is a member of the European operations of Envision Energy, focusing primarily on Grid Scale Battery Storage projects and customers in Europe. Some work on onshore wind and hydrogen is also anticipated in the future. This position is preferably based within Paris (France) or Hamburg, Germany. The role is a customer facing one, so hybrid working with intermittent travel to customer locations across Europe is to be expected. The Commercial Manager is responsible for supporting the bid preparation for new projects and for leading contractual negotiations until contract signature. He/she analyses and assesses customer requests for proposal and tenders and works across the organization to coordinate the overall risk and business case for the respective projects that they are working on. He/She drives the execution of optimized strategies to secure profitable business within the highly competitive energy market. The work involves close coordination with sales and technical teams. Key responsibilities: Essential Responsibilities Support the development of the offers and related improvements. Analyse and assess customer requests for proposal and tenders, considering critical key indicators for the customer and business. Work across the organization, demonstrate strong teamwork skills, lead virtual deal teams and coordinate the overall contract strategy, with a focus on the commercial aspects of the project in close cooperation and partnership with the Solutions engineer, Sales Manager and other functions such as legal, commercial finance, services and project management. Actively participate in the development of the commercial strategy for the deal; identify and capture value optimization opportunities. Develop the negotiation strategy with the extended team. Present the proposal to the customer and take responsibility for drafting and negotiating the equipment and services contracts with our customers, including all terms and conditions, and supporting documents, in English. Lead key negotiations with customers and external stakeholders, including third party consultants and legal advisors; drive the contracts to closure. Take informed decisions regarding the contracts; present proposal summaries including a commercial risk and mitigation plan to the risk review board and obtain management approval for all critical items of each transaction. Support the project execution team in post contract related modifications related to notices, change /variation orders etc. Some business trips within the European region and occasional travel to China are to be foreseen. Qualification and expertise: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Fluent in English, French/German in speaking and writing. (Working knowledge of Chinese is a plus) Enthusiasm for working with customers. Cultural sensitivity to working across time zones and cultures across Europe and Asia. Experience in negotiating terms and conditions and driving deals to closure. Strong process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills. Ability to take critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure. Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during negotiation periods. Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations. Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven leadership skills in virtual project teams. Ability to manage multiple complex activities simultaneously. Dedicated to details while keeping the bigger picture in mind. Desired Characteristics Strong technical skills and enthusiasm for renewable energy Experience in negotiating project-financed deals. Experience in the Battery Storage or Renewable Energy Sector. Track record in negotiating multi-million Euro contracts.
