About the Role: As our Senior Data Engineer – DBA (Data Modeling & ETL) , you’ll combine advanced database management with full-lifecycle data engineering. You will own schema design, performance tuning, ETL pipeline development, and large-scale data migrations—ensuring our analytics and transactional systems are modern, resilient, and scalable. This role emphasizes cutting-edge database practices alongside hands-on data engineering. What You'll Do At CYBLE: Data Modeling & Cloud Warehouse Management: Design star/snowflake schemas and balance normalization vs. performance trade-offs Collaborate with analytics and product teams to translate requirements into data models Implement backup, restore, and cross-region replication strategies Manage raw data storage over S3 and apply lifecycle policies Transactional & Search Database Tuning: Optimize sql / no-sql databases Maintain petabyte-scale Elasticsearch clusters: Design index templates, shard/replica allocation, and rollover policies Tune analyzers, mappings, and relevance scoring for low-latency search Monitor cluster health and perform rolling upgrades with zero downtime Automate database maintenance tasks (vacuum, analyze) and monitor slow queries ETL Development & Data Migrations: Architect, build, and maintain batch and streaming ETL pipelines using EMR/Spark, Glue, Lambda, and Delta Lake Lead large-scale data migrations (S3/HDFS ingestion, Redshift migrations, cross- cluster reorgs) with minimal downtime Ensure idempotency, data quality, and rollback strategies in all migration workflows Big Data Storage & Pipeline Maintenance: Manage data lakes on S3 and HDFS; implement Delta Lake for ACID transactions and schema evolution Oversee EMR/Spark pipelines, ensuring reliability and performance at scale Leverage ECS/Fargate for containerized data workloads and ad-hoc processing Metadata & Governance: Manage Glue Data Catalog and Lake Formation permissions Establish data lineage, schema version control, and audit processes Manage data lifecycle and data governance Innovation & Technology Research: Evaluate and pilot emerging large-scale storage technologies (Apache Iceberg, Hudi,Redshift RA3 & AQUA) Prototype next-generation data architectures (data mesh, lakehouse patterns) Develop PoCs for modern query engines (Redshift Spectrum, Athena fanning out to Iceberg tables) Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with DevOps and Security to enforce IAM roles, encryption (KMS), and network isolation Mentor DE II engineers on modeling best practices, ETL patterns, and database troubleshooting Champion adoption of new tools and frameworks across the Data Engineering team What You’ll Need: 5 years of hands-on experience in data modeling, ETL development, and database administration Deep expertise in dimensional modeling (star/snowflake) and normalization trade-offs Proven track record managing Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch at scale Strong experience building and migrating ETL pipelines (EMR/Spark, Glue, Lambda, Delta Lake) Proficiency with S3/HDFS architectures and data lake best practices Excellent SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Bash scripting Demonstrated success in large-scale data migrations with minimal business impact Strong communication, documentation, and mentoring abilities Preferred Qualifications: AWS certifications (e.g., Database – Specialty, Big Data – Specialty) Experience with additional NoSQL systems (DynamoDB, Cassandra) Knowledge of data mesh or data fabric architectures Background in DevOps practices (CI/CD for schema and ETL code changes, Terraform/CDK) Why You’ll Love Working Here: Shape the backbone of our analytics and ML platforms by leading both modeling and ETL efforts Influence data governance, migration strategy, and best practices across the organization Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and flexible work options If you like working in an inclusive environment, you want to advance your career quickly, and your opinion is valued, look no further than Cyble, Inc.
