Job Description
Scope of Services The selected candidate will work in coordination with the company's project engineers. Services may include, but are not limited to: Engineering analysis and documentation for heavy lift and transport load handling plans Development of load handling plans, including load path analysis Structural calculations, equipment selection, and rigging configuration Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulations as required CAD modeling and drafting of lift configurations and equipment layouts Compliance verification with relevant US and Canadian codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., ASME, OSHA, AISC, etc.) Qualification Requirements Interested candidates should demonstrate: Proven experience in heavy lift, transport and rigging engineering Educational background with relevant discipline (Civil, Structural, Mechanical) Proficiency with relevant engineering software (AutoCAD, Inventor, RISA3D, MathCAD, etc.) Familiarity with heavy lift equipment such as hydraulic gantries, strand jacks, hydraulic skidding systems, cranes, etc. Ability to respond quickly to project demands with flexibility and efficiency Software Requirements Qualified candidates must have access to and demonstrate proficiency with the following software programs: Autodesk Suite (AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, etc.) Microsoft Office Suite RISA3D v22.0 RISASection v2.1 MathCad Prime v10.0 Ansys 2024 (FEA and structural simulation) Practical and Technical Assessment (Mandatory) All candidates are required to complete a Practical and Technical assessment designed to evaluate their engineering capabilities, critical thinking, and application of relevant standards and equipment. This assessment is a key component in the overall evaluation and scoring of proposals. Assessment Scenario A 250,000-pound cylindrical pressure vessel (approximately 60 feet long and 12 feet in diameter) must be: Offloaded from a hydraulic platform trailer using a hydraulic gantry system Lowered onto a slide track system Horizontally translated under a pipe rack with 14 feet of clearance above grade Upended to vertical orientation using a mobile crane in conjunction with the gantry system used to tail the vessel Set onto a concrete foundation Site constraints include: Limited headroom under the pipe rack Limited space for crane setup adjacent to the upending area Soil bearing capacity of 3,500 psf No overhead obstructions other than the pipe rack Required Deliverables Each candidate shall develop and submit a complete engineering and lift plan package that addresses all five steps above. Deliverables must include: 1. Lift Sequence Narrative · Detailed step-by-step description of each phase of the operation · Identification of critical lifts and transitions (e.g., from gantry to crane) · Discussion of site constraints, setup logistics, and safety precautions 2. Engineering Calculations · Rigging configuration loads and capacity checks · Hydraulic gantry and crane selection and justification · Ground bearing pressure and support analysis for equipment · Sliding system design or configuration · Upending load sharing and stability analysis during transition phase 3. Drawings and Diagrams · Plan and elevation views of each phase of the lift · Equipment layout including gantry, crane, slide path, and foundation · Load paths, rigging geometry, and CG location · Schematic of upending transition (combined lift)
