Job Description
Job Title: Childcare and Nursery Manager Location: Willenhall, Coventry Salary: £36,500 per annum Job Type : Full-time, Permanent. Eureka Nursery is a full day care setting in the heart of Willenhall, based in the Willenhall Education, Employment and Training centre. We cater for children from 6 weeks to 4 years across four separate rooms. We are a community nursery and we use this to our advantage; we use the community where we can and work alongside local schools, charities and church to provide a variety of experiences for our children. We aim to enrich the experience of children who attend in celebrating the diverse culture of our neighbourhood and wider city with events and trips as we learn about celebrations and major days. At the centre we have two large outdoor areas, and we often use this to promote our 'outdoor learning' ethos. We believe children benefit both physically and mentally from being outdoors and this type of play is apparent throughout all our planning. The Role To manage and develop the efficient and effective running of our nursery, leading a team of staff, students and volunteers providing high quality childcare which meets the needs of individual children and their families. To develop a flexible approach to service provision in conjunction with the management committee, General Manager, parents/ carers and other users. Responsibilities: To ensure that the childcare provision meets the requirements of the EYFS and OFSTED. To ensure that a caring and stimulating environment is provided, that takes into account individual developmental needs and enables children to reach their full potential. To manage the staff and resources within the childcare provision Actively involve service users in order to develop appropriate experiences and opportunities for children and their families. Acknowledge and strive to meet the individual needs of each family and to offer appropriate support and guidance including liaising with a range of professionals e.g. health visitors, community nursery nurse, social services, speech and language therapists, pre-school services for children with SEN etc. Ensure that individual childcare records are maintained, regularly updated and shared appropriately with parents/ carers in a sensitive way. Manage child protection procedures that are in place and ensure that all staff are aware of these and follow the agreed guidelines. To monitor and report child protection issues and attend case conferences and reviews where necessary. Receive and respond to compliments, comments and complaints appropriately and deal with day-to-day issues with parents/ carers in the nursery. To ensure that the service provided respects children's life experiences and celebrates diversity in terms of language, culture, ability, race, religion and family structure. To manage the nursery staff team, ensuring the effective deployment of staff on a daily basis and ensuring continuous professional development Actively encourage a training culture within the childcare setting and be responsible for developing an annual training plan in conjunction with the nursery team.
