Position - Head of Sales - Darjeeling Tea Location - Kolkata About the Company Our client is on a mission to reimagine Darjeeling tea as a globally celebrated premium product. With strong institutional backing and a disruptive roadmap in place, it aims to position Darjeeling tea at the forefront of the premium tea industry in India and abroad. About the Role We are seeking a dynamic and driven professional with proven bulk Darjeeling tea sales and trading experience to lead our domestic and export sales function. The individual will own revenue targets, build trading partnerships, drive volume sales, and help establish Darjeeling tea as a premium yet widely consumed beverage. Responsibilities Bulk Tea Sales & Distribution – Domestic Market Build and manage a B2B client base including blenders, traders, bulk buyers, and any other channel partners. Achieve annual volume targets across India. Establish relationships with key auction houses, private buyers, and government bodies. Export Sales & Trading Identify and develop new international markets for bulk Darjeeling tea sales. Leverage existing trading networks or develop new ones in key markets like Europe, Japan, North America, and Middle East. Drive sales through private labels, bulk exports, and institutional partners. Sales Operations & Reporting Work closely with marketing and supply chain teams to ensure fulfilment. Manage pricing strategy aligned to market dynamics and brand positioning. Develop sales forecasts, market intelligence reports, and competitor analysis. Strategic Contribution Advise the management on evolving trends in the tea trading ecosystem. Contribute to product positioning, packaging (for B2B), and market penetration strategies. Participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, and international roadshows. Qualifications Must Have: Experience in bulk Darjeeling tea sales and trading (domestic export). Deep market relationships with traders, distributors, and institutional buyers. Proven track record of achieving volume-based sales targets. Good to Have: Exposure to international markets and global tea trading standards. Familiarity with customs, tea board regulations, export documentation. Required Skills Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in a greenfield setup Strong negotiation and relationship management skills Deep understanding of tea grades, quality, and pricing High execution orientation with a data-backed approach Strong communication skills, written and verbal
