Software Engineer Intern - High Frequency Trading (HFT)

Location: Amsterdam Zuid Duration: Long term, might result in a full time job Compensation: Paid internship with performance bonus depending on your competency About the Role Thymos Research is a newly launched high-frequency trading (HFT) firm operates across global crypto markets . We're seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join the team and help develop and optimize ultra-low-latency trading systems. You’ll work directly with the founder (ex-quant/algo trader) and gain exposure to everything from designing high-frequency trading systems from scratch. This is a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience in HFT infrastructure, contribute directly to live trading strategies, and prepare for full-time roles at trading firms. Job Description Optimize existing Python-based trading systems for low latency and high throughput Contribute to the design and development of new trading components in Python and Rust Profile system bottlenecks (CPU, memory, networking) and improve performance Work with real-time WebSocket market data , REST APIs Qualifications Strong proficiency in Python (experience with concurrency and parallelism) Interest or experience in Rust — experience is a plus, but willingness to learn is essential Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and systems programming Familiarity with networking fundamentals , Linux, and performance profiling tools Strong self-drive, curiosity , and a proven ability to learn independently Why Join Us?
