Duties and responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of innovative social media strategies and campaigns aligned with institutional objectives. Monitor social media platforms to identify emerging trends, student issues, and crisis communication triggers. Assist with real-time social listening and response during critical or sensitive periods. Develop campaign content and messaging for university-wide initiatives, student engagement, and reputational enhancement. Source, create, and adapt multimedia content (including images, videos, GIFs, and written copy) for various platforms. Post content and actively manage official UFS social media accounts. Respond promptly and professionally to public and student queries on social platforms in a brand-aligned tone. Collaborate with the UFS Social Media Squad and internal stakeholders to produce peer-led and authentic content. Maintain consistency in branding across platforms by updating profile elements and ensuring compliance with brand guidelines. Generate monthly and campaign-specific analytics reports using industry-standard tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Brandwatch, TikTok Analytics). Interpret data insights to optimise content and campaign strategies and support strategic communication planning. Build and maintain a network of official UFS social media administrators and ensure their compliance with institutional standards. Contribute to the Division of Communication and Marketing's content hub to support editorial planning and scheduling. Identify and recommend tools, formats, and approaches that strengthen UFS's digital presence and stakeholder engagement. Inherent requirements: Bachelor's degree/BTech/Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Communication, Journalism, Media, Marketing, or a related field Minimum of two (2) years' proven experience in social/digital media management. Recommendations: Three (3) to Five (5) years' relevant experience in social/digital media management Honours degree on NQF level eight (8) in Communication, Journalism, Media, Marketing, or a related field Experience in higher education, youth-focused brands, or digital agencies preferred. Knowledge of SEO and social media advertising is advantageous Required competencies: Results Orientated: - The ability to cope with a frequently changing environment and to adapt to evolving situations. - The ability to be reliable, responsible, dependable and to fulfil obligations. Strategic Thinking: - The ability to deal with several activities at a time. - The ability to focus on details, work towards perfection, and approach work in a neat and organised manner. Business Acumen: - The ability to adhere to rules and strictly follow work regulations. - Proficient in using MS Office. - Knowledge of the social media environment and Demonstrate knowledge of multi-media journalism. - Photography and videography skills. - Proven experience in successfully managing social media platforms. - Proven experience in the conceptualisation and execution of social media campaigns. - Skilled in analytics and reporting tools (such as Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics, Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, Buffer, or other industry-recognised software). - Proficient in multimedia content creation software (such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, lnShot, Animoto, Biteable, or other industry-recognised software). - Advanced working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and the Web - Expertise in social media platforms, audience engagement, and digital trends. Leading: - The ability to maintain high levels of personal motivation, energy and enthusiasm. - The ability to be cooperative with others, display a good-natured attitude and encourage people to work together. Building Coalitions: - The ability to be sensitive and understanding to the needs and feelings of others. - The ability to interact with others and establish personal connections with people. Assumption of duties: 01 July 2025 or as soon as possible. Closing date: 22 June 2025 Salary: The annual remuneration package, including benefits is R447 323.31 R562 750.48 per annum, depending on the budget available for the position, relevant work experience and qualifications.
