Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel specialized in Data Protection & Tech Law to join our Legal & Compliance team and the Italian organization as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of two legal entities. You will play a crucial role in shaping and supporting Boehringer Ingelheim's mission to improve the health of patients (both human and animal) and contribute to sustainable development for future generations. Tasks & Responsibilities Provide expert strategic legal advice and support on projects, agreements, and solutions impacting data protection, technology, cybersecurity, and information governance. Review and participate in negotiations of related agreements. Ensure the maintenance and development of Data Protection Governance, Data Protection Compliance Program, and overall regulatory compliance in data protection (GDPR and privacy laws), information governance, and cybersecurity for local legal entities. Contribute to strategic business objectives. Oversee and develop the data processing register and relevant policies for the local legal entities. Serve as the point of contact with regulatory authorities on privacy matters and actively participate in Boehringer's European Data Protection team activities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments including Human Pharma, Animal Health, Marketing, Sales, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, HR, Finance, Facility & Engineering, Quality, and Production within Italy. Requirements Master’s Degree in Law; preferably a qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of experience in primary law firms specializing in Data Privacy and Tech/IT law. DPO certification or similar qualifications in data protection are a plus. Minimum of 5 years of experience in in-house data protection roles with a focus on strategic advice in complex projects. Familiarity with new technologies impacting data protection and extensive knowledge of applicable data protection and cybersecurity regulations in Italy. Knowledge of the OneTrust app is preferred. Excellent command of English and native proficiency in Italian. Ability to provide strategic advice, align data protection strategies with business goals, and adopt a risk-based approach. Excellent communication skills to advise and influence senior management and engage stakeholders. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to new challenges.
