Electrician

The Electrician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment across school buildings and educational facilities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and code-compliant electrical infrastructure to support daily academic operations and special events. Pay: $29.00/hour The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. For information about ABM's benefits, visit ABM ABM Employee Benefits | Front Line Team Members | (Programa de Beneficios de ABM) Key Responsibilities * Install, maintain, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, outlets, lighting systems, and circuit breakers. * Troubleshoot and resolve electrical malfunctions in classrooms, labs, auditoriums, and outdoor areas. * Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems. * Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams. * Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes and safety regulations. * Assist with electrical setup for school functions, events, and temporary power needs. * Collaborate with contractors, inspectors, and other trades during renovations or construction. * Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent. * Respond to maintenance service tickets in a timely manner. * Provide input on energy efficiency upgrades or electrical system improvements. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or GED. * Completion of a state-recognized electrician apprenticeship or technical school. * Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in commercial or institutional electrical work. * Knowledge of current electrical codes, safety practices, and troubleshooting techniques. * Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks. * Must have a Valid State Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications * Experience working in a school district, college, or university environment. * Familiarity with low-voltage systems (e.g., fire alarms, intercoms, security systems). Physical Requirements * Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights. * Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
