Java SRE Specialist

Job Title: Java SRE Specialist Tenure: Full-Time, Contract Location: Montreal, QC Work Type: Hybrid Job Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled Java SRE Specialist to join our team in Montreal. In this role, you will focus on enhancing platform reliability, optimizing developer experience, and driving operational excellence across engineering and production support functions. You will work closely with development teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders to build self-service solutions, automate manual processes, and maintain a robust production management environment. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop tools and services to support self-service and self-sufficiency for development teams. Streamline and automate production support and operational tasks to reduce manual effort and toil. Champion operational excellence by enforcing standardization and governance across environments. Implement proactive monitoring strategies to ensure platform stability and risk mitigation. Collaborate with the production support team on incident management, root cause analysis, and infrastructure oversight. Facilitate onboarding of applications to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps frameworks. Manage and support infrastructure components including databases, servers, tools, and scripts. Identify and implement automation opportunities in infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, and migration activities. Partner with cross-functional teams to push DevOps, automation, and SRE best practices across the organization. Required Skills & Qualifications: 8–15 years of total IT experience, with a minimum of 3 years in automation/SRE/DevOps engineering roles. Hands-on experience with Python and Perl/Shell scripting. Strong proficiency in UNIX operations and infrastructure support . Solid knowledge of SQL , preferably with DB2 and Sybase databases. Familiarity with monitoring tools such as AppDynamics , Splunk , and JProfiler . Experience with Agile methodologies , Git , and CI/CD pipelines . Exposure to container platforms like Docker . Experience with automation testing tools such as JUnit , Maven , or Gradle . Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills. Self-starter with a passion for learning, problem-solving, and driving improvement.
