Job Description
FORMAL EDUCATION: Grade 12 (NQF 4) EXPERIENCE: 5 7 years experience in a network environment TECHNICAL / LEGAL CERTIFICATION Huawei HCIE Datacom/WLAN or equivalent product certification Wireless Networks and/or Industrial Networks and/or Perimeter Security (Network) and/0r IPsec Tunnelling and/or Data Centre Fortinet/HP/Cisco/Systems Experience VOIP (System specific) advantageous RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Perspective Utilisation Maintain acceptable billability ratio Manage tools of trade Responsible application and maintenance of assigned equipment (Cell phones, laptops, or other relevant tools etc.) Manage operational expenses Reduce operational expenses Manage and control stock Receives logistical components from Logistics Coordinator Prepare stock for movement via couriers Issue parts to end user when needed Customer Perspective Incident resolution Proactive escalation of unresolved events, incidents and service request to stakeholders Planning and design Work with clients and users, as well as other process and functional actors to determine and address operational requirements within technology and budget constraints Perform auditing of hardware and software before and after the implementation of release package changes. Produce network release documentation and communications, including training to customer requirements Ensuring quality components of methodology is followed to achieve all process milestones Ensure project tasks delivered in accordance with larger project objectives, where applicable Ensuring that the requirements are documented in technical specifications and topologies Internal Perspective Build and transition Contribute to roll out planning including method of deployment Timely risk escalation and issues to stakeholders Complete required checklists that defines the completion criteria for each service performed. Ensure release communication, preparation and training where required Provide technical and application guidance and support throughout the release process Provide early life support following deployment Operate and maintain Perform pre approved, manual or remote networking support, peripheral build, and firmware rollouts to all network devices Complete required checklists that defines the completion criteria for each service performed Provide informal technical advice and guidance around networking devices and associated peripherals Timely risk escalation and issues to stakeholders Monitors networking environment and efficiency and makes recommendations as to improvements, where applicable Service provider management Where necessary and appropriate, liaise directly with external service providers (e.g. Telkom, Cisco, etc.) in the case of an event or incident occurring Process compliance Adhere to applicable processes and standards (ISO, ITIL) and best practice models for relevant Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Training/operation hand-over Where any of the role tasks are delegated to other process and functional actors, ensure that staff are adequately trained and are provided with access to the appropriate tools to enable them to perform these tasks Learning and Growth Perspective Talent database Ensure CV updated and remains current on talent management system Execute personal development plan (PDP) Participate in activities as described in personal development plan Knowledge sharing Participate in opportunities for knowledge sharing within the team and relevant communities of practice (COP's) Maintain accreditation status Relevant training programme attended
