Located in Soho, W London owns the stage in the epicentre of the city's cultural core. Plugged in to the pulse of London's energetic social scene, this is where louder-than-life Soho mixes with the glitzy West End. The Director of Marketing at W London is responsible for the planning, direction, control, and coordination of all communication activities, with an emphasis on public relations. Promotes and maintains good communications in order to enhance the prestigious image of the hotel and by doing so contributes to the revenues of the hotel. Core Responsibilities This role includes the following responsibilities, which are not limited to: Managing Marketing Communications Activities Develops an annual communications and marketing plan with specific goals and budgets, aligned with W London's tone-setting, lifestyle-driven strategy. Prepares working plans to achieve those goals and ensures the communications and hotel teams are briefed and aligned. Compares achievements against KPIs and takes corrective action when needed. Plans and oversees all mailing activities and electronic communications. Leads creative input and execution of collateral design and production in collaboration with advertising agencies and in-house teams. Supervises and directs photography and videography for advertising, public relations, and digital content. Oversees the in-house art/graphics library and maintains a comprehensive master asset library for marketing use. Ensures brand standards and corporate identity guidelines are implemented consistently across all touchpoints and is the main point of contact within the hotel for any related queries. Creates and maintains a strong digital identity and manages content across web and social platforms. Works closely with Digital Field Marketing to execute demand-generating campaigns and manage e-commerce strategies. Leads hotel-specific marketing initiatives while aligning with national and regional promotions. Oversees the timely preparation of the monthly sales & marketing communications report as well as various reports as required by the Guidance Team and Executive Committee team. Monitors competitor activities and industry trends to keep W London positioned as a market leader. Managing Public Relations Activities Acts as the hotel's official spokesperson when appropriate; responds to all media inquiries within 24 hours; working closely with above property PR and Communications team. Maintains and develops strong relationships with local, national, and international media contacts, managing assignments within the team. Prepares targeted press releases and works with corporate and regional PR offices to shape compelling story angles. Leads crisis communications planning in collaboration with the General Manager and field PR teams. Develops and manages PR-led activations and brand partnerships to generate awareness and drive footfall. Oversees participation in community, cultural, and industry events to enhance hotel visibility and positioning. Organizes press trips, media blitzes, influencer campaigns, and ensures the press kit is up-to-date and aligned with brand messaging. Managing Advertising Activities Leads planning and execution of advertising campaigns across rooms and B&F outlets, ensuring alignment with brand positioning. Partners with agencies to optimize creative assets, media planning, and campaign delivery. Ensures all advertising is in synergy with company-wide branding and enhances guest perception. Reviews market segmentation data to inform targeted advertising strategies. Manages advertising schedules and oversees timely account settlement. Managing Direct and Digital Marketing Activities Develops and tracks digital and direct marketing strategies to generate demand and revenue. Responsible for driving digital share and implement actions to meet digital share KPIs. Plans regular programming calendars in partnership with B&F teams to activate brand passion points helping to generate word of mouth and positive PR traction. Focus on driving footfall towards B&F venues with awareness of revenue goals. Ensure alignment with overall Marketing Plan and the B&F Marketing Plan. Drives digital initiatives including hotel website optimization, paid media, email marketing, and organic content. Leads property content strategy including photo/video shoots and storytelling across digital channels. Manages online reputation and review platforms using brand-consistent language and tone. Ensures a unified digital experience that reflects W's disruptive, luxury lifestyle positioning. Managing Collateral and Visual Identity Oversees the production and quality of all physical and digital collateral and signage in public areas. Ensures proper usage of the W London and Marriott branding across guest touchpoints and merchandise. Manages inventory and budgeting for printed materials and branded items. Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities Hires, coaches, and develops marketing team members with a focus on high performance and creativity. Sets clear expectations and performance goals; monitors and evaluates performance regularly. Champions brand culture, innovation, and service excellence across the team. Leads performance reviews, provides continuous feedback, and ensures fair application of HR policies. Maintains a positive, inclusive team environment and uses open-door policies to encourage communication. Coaches direct reports, champions change initiatives, and addresses team issues in collaboration with HR. Cross-Departmental and Strategic Leadership Serves as a key leader on the hotel's Guidance Team, integrating marketing with hotel-wide business objectives. Collaborates closely with Sales, Revenue Management, Event Management, HR, Welcome, B&F and other departments to ensure operational alignment. Maintains accountability for marketing's contribution to revenue, cost control, guest satisfaction, and brand reputation. Represents the marketing function in meetings with ownership, regional teams, and external partners. Additional Responsibilities Keeps all stakeholders informed with timely updates and relevant information. Analyzes data, evaluates results, and recommends solutions to improve outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned in support of the hotel's business objectives. Participates in the Manager on Duty Program. Representing W London in various external marketing activities, conferences and meetings as required. Attends sales strategy meetings and other adhoc commercial meetings to provide input on weekly and overall marketing strategy. Researches competitor's sales and marketing team strategies to identify ways to grow occupancy and RevPAR and increase market share.
