Job Description

Ivanplats is looking for a GEOLOGIST PRODUCTION X 1 REF: IVP-GEO-2502 IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this mine of the future. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development. Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: Honours Degree in Geology from a recognized tertiary institution with At least 6 years experience within applicable practical mining environment. Minimum 4 years post graduate geological experience in an underground hard rock environment Proficient in the use of mine software packages (Data Mine, Leapfrog and database management softwares preferred). Proficient in the use of Microsoft software including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. High level administrative skills. Knowledge of the bushveld complex and Northern Limb advantageous Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: Compliance and application of Sect 22 and 23 of the Mine Health and Safety Act Profound Geological data collection (underground and from ALL drilling programs) ensuring geological data is collected accurately and that the data is entered into the database timeously Ability to capture and analyse geological data in 3D Conduct and capture geological and structural mapping for both development and Stope ends Conduct and execute underground drilling layouts for (Cover, grade control and delineation holes) Be able to run a section's drilling programme liaising with all stakeholders involved Conduct Core logging, sampling and QA/QC Daily Grade control and management Liaise with all stakeholders during Grade, development and short-term planning meetings Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: Providing support to the mine operations by , collecting, interpreting and reporting on production geology issues, including logging/ sampling core, wireframing, modelling, grade/tonnage estimations and reconciliations, in alignment with the organization's long-term objectives.
