Contract vacancy for approximately 4 months The Role ABC Gippsland is a great team to be part of it, and our news journalists have varied and exciting jobs. We cover Warragul, Traralgon, Inverloch, Bairnsdale and Orbost from our Sale radio studios and newsroom. Our reporters are vital in bringing the characters and stories of these communities to local and national audiences. The ways to tell these stories are ever-evolving; it could be a live cross into TV with overlay you filmed yourself using the latest mobile technology, an online story on Australia’s most trusted news website, a carefully crafted radio package on AM, a short piece in a radio news bulletin you’re presenting live or a long-form YouTube video. The Job We have a short-term contract vacancy available to work under the direction of the Editor, and the role involves: Finding great stories from Gippsland, and telling them to the ABC’s local, state, national and international audiences on its broadcast, social media and online platforms. Presenting news bulletins, Q&A’s, interviews and packages. Writing strong feature stories, with compelling visuals, that hook an engaged audience on our website. Position Description: 30000353 REPORTER.pdf About You You will have experience with breaking news and generating original stories in a daily news environment. You will be a team player who can also work independently. We’d love you to have some knowledge and connections to Gippsland, or the research skills and enthusiasm to make Gippsland your new home. The skills that you will bring include: Sourcing and breaking news, and generating original stories in a news environment Managing your time effectively to meet deadlines Communicating easily and working as part of a team in the Sale office Current and valid Driver’s Licence is essential with a willingness and flexibility to travel to remote locations.
