Job Description Make a Difference as a Professional Staff Nurse – Addiction Services at UPMC Join UPMC as a Professional Staff Nurse in our Residential Treatment for Addiction Services unit, where you'll provide compassionate, recovery-focused care to individuals overcoming substance use disorders. Responsibilities: Build and maintain positive working relationships through accountability, enthusiasm, and a commitment to patients and colleagues. Model healthy work-life balance, time management, and personal well-being while identifying and reporting workplace safety concerns. Apply the nursing process through Relationship-Based Care to develop individualized, holistic plans of care in collaboration with patients. Demonstrate strong clinical judgment to address patients' physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs across the continuum of care. Communicate effectively with the care team, ensuring accurate documentation and seamless transitions between caregivers. Educate patients and families using adult learning principles to support informed care and successful transitions. Serve as a mentor or preceptor to students and new staff, fostering an environment of inquiry, feedback, and continuous learning. Engage actively in shared governance, quality initiatives, and performance improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery. Use evidence-based practices to identify and implement opportunities for clinical improvement and innovation. Embrace change and demonstrate flexibility to adapt to evolving care environments and organizational priorities. Perform in alignment with UPMC’s system-wide competencies and behavioral expectations to uphold our high standards of care Current RN licensure in the state of practice or a compact state, or eligibility for a Temporary Practice Permit (TPP). BLS or CPR certification required within 30 days of hire (AHA standards, including skills demonstration). Graduate Nurses must obtain licensure within 6 months of hire or 1 year of graduation, whichever comes first. UPMC-approved national certification preferred. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care based on principles of growth and development across the life span. Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to assess patient needs and respond with appropriate care based on age-specific requirements. Proven ability to build and maintain positive, caring relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing priorities and specialized equipment.
