Job details Job role Pastoral, health and welfare Visa sponsorship Visas cannot be sponsored Working pattern Full time: 36 hours 40 minutes per week / Term Time plus 5 days (195 days) Contract type Fixed term - 12 months Full-time equivalent salary NJC scale points 23-25: £33,366 - £35,235 per annum (Full Time / Full Year salary) Additional allowances SEN Allowance - £1,491 per annum What skills and experience we're looking for Applicants shouldbe able to demonstrate how they meet the following essential criteria: Previousexperience of working with young people of secondary school age who may presentwith challenging behaviour and complex SEMH (Social, Emotional & MentalHealth) needs, preferably within an educational setting A nurturing andempathetic approach to behaviour management The physical andemotional resilience to support students with complex needs, taking anon-judgemental approach The ability tosupport teaching and learning within an SEMH setting to a dedicated group ofstudents The ability to model and encourageappropriate social behaviour in and out of school and to cater for the generalwelfare of students. The ability to work as part of a teamusing own initiative when needed Willingness to participate in ownprofessional development What the school offers its staff Partof the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, The SpringboardProject, based in Oldham town centre,provides high quality, innovativealternative educational experiences for pupils and students with SEMH (Social,Emotional and Mental Health difficulties) across the 14-19 age range. Hereat the Project, we believe passionately in supporting our students to achievetheir very best outcomes and overcome their barriers to learning. Our provisionis set up to provide high quality, innovative educational provision for 14-19year olds with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Our aim is tomeet the needs of our young people where they are, supporting them to gain theskills, knowledge and experience necessary to go into fulfilling life beyondeducation. It is our ambitious goal to support every one of our students intoemployment, further education or training once they leave us at 19. Wepromise to ensure all our students have the opportunity to: Gain a minimum of 4 Level 2 (GCSE orequivalent) qualifications, including Maths and English Gain a vocational qualification in apathway of their choice Develop employability and life skills,including recognised qualifications Have real, meaningful workexperiences, including being allocated a career coach, who will stay with thempost-19 Wealso believe that we cannot support our young people in isolation, and soalways look for innovative ways to support our wider community, the youngpeople's families. This can be through offering a friendly ear / support to theadults around our students through to real, practical support via our 'ProjectPantry', a one-stop option for families struggling with the cost of livingcrisis. TheProject is part of the New Bridge Group, a specialist MAT focussed onsupporting young people across Oldham, Thameside, Rochdale and Stockport withadditional needs. Through the MAT, and our partnerships with wider externalagencies, we can support our young people up to the age of 25, ensuring theyhave the best possible outcomes and move successfully into adulthood. Thisis a new venture for the Project; we are looking for innovative and passionatepeople to become part of a new team, providing face to face mentoring andtutoring support to students who are struggling to access traditionaleducational settings. You will be very independent, working on a case-load ofstudents, deploying various skills and techniques supporting young people tobecome re-engaged with their education. Working under the oversight of a middleleader, and supported by one of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be acrucial element in completely changing the life chances of some of the mostvulnerable young people. The option of either all-year or term-time (plus 5)working, along with the potential for flexible working arrangements, will bediscussed at interview - we are looking for a team of people who will providethe relational support and engagement with young people where they are - eitherphysically, so potentially in their home or community venues, and even out oftraditional school hours.
