Our Decarbonization & Energy Transition Investing Team is experiencing significant growth, servicing private equity and infrastructure investors. Consultants work on strategic and operational decarbonization projects at investor and portfolio company levels. We are seeking a Principal Consultant to develop 'Investment Grade' decarbonization plans that align with client needs and can be rapidly implemented. The role involves leveraging existing client relationships and building new ones, providing leadership across teams, and delivering value-driven decarbonization strategies. Responsibilities: Developing strategies to pursue new business opportunities for revenue growth. Leading the delivery of decarbonization projects, working with client teams to develop fund plans, measure climate metrics, and prepare for exits. Designing and executing decarbonization plans for investments, aligning with broader ESG and energy transition goals. Leading multidisciplinary teams across ERM’s expertise areas. Providing guidance on translating decarbonization initiatives into sustainable business models. Leading due diligence projects focused on ESG and low-carbon economy drivers, with recommendations for post-investment actions. About you: To succeed, you should have: Fluency in English and Italian. Experience in delivering investment-grade decarbonization plans with detailed ROI and MACC analysis. Understanding of business value beyond energy savings, including revenue growth and market positioning. Experience managing decarbonization programs within private equity and infrastructure contexts. Deep knowledge of energy efficiency, renewable procurement, low-carbon solutions, and sustainable initiatives. Experience working with private markets investors and portfolio operations teams. Leadership experience with C-suite engagement and strategic planning for GHG inventories and net-zero targets. Knowledge of energy transition investing, science-based targets, impact measurement, and relevant standards (e.g., TCFD, SBTi, LEED, BREEAM). Consulting background preferred but not mandatory.
