Job Description
This position consists of professional services which includes the identification, diagnosis, programming, consultation, case management and follow-up of preschool and school age clients with communication difficulties. Clients demonstrate communication concerns, involving – articulation, language, social communication, voice, stuttering, and augmentative and alternative communication. Duties will include but are not limited to: Providing direct client screening, diagnostic, and intervention services, as well as consultative services as appropriate, in a variety of settings. Providing information and recommendations, while developing programming for clients with their families, support persons, and other professionals, and making referrals to other services as required. Participating on teams with families and related professionals to provide collaborative family centered care for our clients. Completing necessary administrative duties required for speech-language pathology with an emphasis on clinical documentation. Educating the community regarding communication difficulties and advocating for clients’ needs. Providing professional development through presentations and educational sessions as requested. Participating on various committees and teams associated with the clients and programs. Providing clinical education opportunities and support for program Assistants, S-LP students, and volunteers. Participating in program development and planning, as well as statistic collection to inform annual reports, program directions and new initiatives; and performing other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications: Must have successful completion of a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Prince Edward Island (CASLPPEI). Bilingual language proficiency (oral and written) in both English and French (Advanced oral proficiency) for the purposes of providing speech-language pathology clinical services. Clinical experience working in speech-language pathology with preschool and school age children and youth, along with their families and support persons. Demonstrated effective organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking, clinical reasoning, conflict resolution and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice. Must be proficient with computer software programs, word processing, and electronic mail. Familiarity with productivity reporting related to client visits and other work activities. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation as travel is a regular duty of this position. Excellent previous work and attendance record. Other Qualifications: Experience and certification with programs, such as the Hanen Programs, will be considered an asset. Understanding of family centered care with knowledge of functional assessment and treatment strategies desired. Experience working collaboratively with families and other professionals, especially for preschool and school age clients with significant complexity, will be considered an asset Continuing education activities and experience that reflect interest in preschool and school age communication areas relevant to this position will be considered an asset. Salary Range: $41.89 - $52.45 per hour (Level 18D) Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 Hours Bi-Weekly / Monday to Friday / 8am – 4pm Posting ID: 167955-0425EHPI
