Join to apply for the Scientific Officer_Laboratory Medicine role at National University Hospital Reporting to the Head of Lab Science (Laboratory Medicine) under the professional supervision of the Head of Department, Laboratory Medicine, the Sr Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead will provide strategic, clinical, operational, and research directions in advancing NUH genomic services to enable excellence in patient care. The Sr Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient and innovative genomic services, ensuring adherence to ACMG (American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics) standards. This role includes providing scientific advice for complex clinical cases and leading research initiatives, aligning with the goals of advancing genomic medicine and precision healthcare. Responsibilities and Duties Lead and oversee advanced genomic services, managing clinical and developmental activities. Interpret and report complex genomic analyses, including DNA sequencing and structural variants. Apply scientific principles to troubleshoot and optimize laboratory assays. Collaborate with medical geneticists and genetic counselors to support clinical decisions. Ensure accuracy and relevance of genetic testing results. Supervise participation in external quality control programs to maintain standards. Work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated service delivery. Participate in laboratory management, including staff development and strategic planning. Perform additional duties as assigned. Job Requirements Qualifications Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in genetics, genomics, human genetics, or related fields. Postdoctoral training in ABMGG or equivalent, with board certification. Experience At least 4 years in variant interpretation based on ACMG guidelines in a clinical setting. Minimum 3 years in a leadership role, demonstrating team management skills. Experience with large NGS datasets, mutation databases, and genome browsers. Knowledge of quality management systems compliant with ISO15189 and/or CAP standards. Strong analytical, scientific writing, and communication skills. Ability to review, understand, and document scientific data. Proactive attitude, attention to detail, and good organizational skills.
