Unix Support Engineer

Role : Unix Support Engineer Job Description : We are seeking an experienced and versatile Unix Support Engineer to provide robust application support, manage deployments, and ensure efficient system operations in a hybrid cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid Unix support background, strong database skills, experience with application servers, cloud platforms, monitoring tools, and DevOps practices. Key Responsibilities: - Provide L2/L3 Unix application support, including system monitoring, issue resolution, and performance tuning. - Manage and support databases with strong skills in SQL and database administration. - Handle and configure application servers like Tomcat and WebSphere. - Utilize ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or JIRA to track and manage incidents and changes. - Develop and run scripts using Shell scripting and SQL for automation and troubleshooting. - Use tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, Grafana, or Prometheus for log analysis, monitoring, and application performance management. - Work with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to manage deployments and monitor services. - Monitor jobs using tools like Autosys and ensure timely execution of scheduled processes. - Participate in application deployment and configuration using DevOps tools such as Kubernetes, Jenkins, Gradle, Maven, Groovy, Harness, and Ansible. Qualifications & Skills: - Strong Unix/Linux application support experience. - Proficient in SQL and relational database concepts. - Hands-on experience with Tomcat/WebSphere or other application servers. - Experience with ServiceNow or JIRA for incident and change management. - Scripting proficiency in Shell and SQL. - Working knowledge of monitoring tools like Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, Grafana, or Prometheus. - Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Familiarity with job schedulers like Autosys. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation tools. - Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills (ref:hirist.tech)
