EDM Machinist / EDM Operator (Double Day Shift) Location: Stroud Industry: Precision Engineering / Oil & Gas Type: Full-time, Perm Shifts: Double Day Shift (Early: 6:00am-14:00pm Late: 14:00pm-22:00pm) Salary/Package: £38,000 (Including £7,705 shift allowance) 1. Due to growth and increased demand, they are looking to add an experienced EDM Machinist / EDM Operator to their team. 2. Job Role Job Title: EDM Machinist / EDM Operator Shift: Double Day Shift (Early: 6:00am-14:00pm Late: 14:00pm- 22:00pm) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting and operating EDM and Wire EDM machines, ensuring that precision parts are produced to exact specifications. You’ll play a key role in meeting production targets and maintaining the highest quality standards for components used in safety-critical applications. 3. Key Responsibilities Set and operate EDM and Wire EDM machinery using setup sheets, tooling, and CNC programs. Inspect, de-burr, and clean parts to ensure they meet required specifications. Monitor machine performance and cycle times to match estimated costs. Record production and downtime accurately using job travellers and fault codes. Report and document any non-conforming parts, performing root cause analysis where appropriate. Provide feedback to engineering on setup or program improvements. Communicate effectively during shift handovers and work collaboratively within the team. Support apprentices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the shop floor. 4. Qualifications and Skills Proven experience operating EDM/Wire EDM machinery in a precision engineering environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CNC code. Experience setting datums, tool lengths, and wear offsets. Comfortable working with a range of materials, including Duplex and Nickel Alloys. Skilled in using micrometres, verniers, and coordinate measuring reports. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Experience supporting apprenticeships or mentoring is a plus. 5.
