Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Manufacturing Engineering Environment) Location: Blackburn, Lancashire Hours: Full-time, 41.5 hours per week Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:00pm (flexible) Breaks: 50-minute paid lunch break Salary: £14.63 per hour Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays Our client, one of Blackburn’s most established and exciting manufacturers is looking for either an experienced Lab Technician or a graduate looking to get into this type of work, this role offers a clean and modern working environment with a very supportive and progressive employer offering full training and who are working with blue chip organisations on a daily basis, this in turn will give you exposure to dealing with some of the top people in these great companies. Job Purpose: To support manufacturing operations by conducting routine laboratory tests, ensuring product quality and compliance with relevant standards. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, operating laboratory equipment, and assisting with quality assurance processes in very interesting manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Conduct testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products according to established procedures Accurately record and report test results Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness within the laboratory Assist in investigations of quality issues and contribute to continuous improvement Work closely with production and quality teams to ensure consistent product quality Handle products safely in accordance with COSHH regulations Participate in training and development programmes as required Person Specification: Essential: Previous laboratory experience in a manufacturing, engineering or industrial setting or a graduate looking to get into this type of role Good understanding of laboratory procedures and testing methods Attention to detail and high level of accuracy Strong communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, data entry systems) Flexibility and reliability in working early shifts Desirable: Relevant qualification in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., BTEC, HNC, or similar) Knowledge of ISO standards or quality management systems Experience working with raw material and laboratory safety practices To apply for this incredible role, please send your up to date CV to or call me on (phone number removed)
