Are you ready for a challenge There are some big issues facing Rushcliffe over the next few years, not least completing the review of the Borough's Local Plan and we are looking for a Planning Policy Officer to join us. Location: Rushcliffe, NG2 7YG Salary: £26,745 - £41,661 per annum (Career Grade Post) Job Type: Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week Closing date: Sunday 1st June 2025 About Us: Rushcliffe Borough Council provides high quality services to more than 110,000 residents in a borough made up of vibrant towns and stunning villages. Our Council offices are located in West Bridgford, Nottingham in a purpose built office and leisure centre facility, Rushcliffe Arena. Planning Policy Officer - The Role: We're looking for an organised and self-motivated person with a Town Planning or related degree to join our Planning Policy team to help take forward work on our Local Plan. Recent graduates or those with limited experience are also encouraged to apply, as this role offers the opportunity to advance your career as you gain experience, to develop your skills and to be supported through the APC route towards achieving membership of the RTPI. Planning Policy Officer - Key Responsibilities: - To assist with the preparation, monitoring and presentation of evidence for the Local Plan and other planning policy functions - Ensure the integration of planning policy work with other relevant Council functions - Prepare and where necessary present reports to Council committees on planning policy and related matters - Represent the Council at meetings and exhibitions as required - To liaise with other bodies to ensure that the Council's interests are properly represented - Provide assistance and advice on planning policy matters to other Council departments - Deal with correspondence and enquiries from the general public and preparing Planning Policy related reports and studies Planning Policy Officer - You: This is career grade post and salary on appointment will be dependent on your experience and skills. We will be looking to appoint a candidate who can show that they have the ability to make a significant contribution to the work of the team. - Degree or equivalent in Town Planning or related subject, OR previous Town Planning experience - Understanding of planning policy issues - Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication - Ability to demonstrate organisational skills - Access to vehicle and current driving licence or ability to arrange independent travel to sites Planning Policy Officer - Benefits: This is a superb opportunity to be part of a Planning Policy team in a Council aiming for excellence and which values planning.
