About the role Forest of Dean District Council is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Estates Officer to join our Property and Assets team. In this key role, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of a diverse portfolio of Council properties, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with all relevant legislation. From lease administration and property inspections to managing tenant relationships and overseeing maintenance, you'll help deliver efficient estate management in line with our asset management strategy. You'll play a vital role in negotiating lease and licence terms, coordinating property transactions, and liaising with legal and professional services. The role also involves supporting income recovery, ensuring statutory compliance (including EPCs and health and safety), and maintaining accurate property records. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the Council's long-term property goals while developing your expertise in a dynamic public sector environment. You will need To be educated to A Level standard or equivalent in a relevant subject A minimum 4 years' experience in a similar related role so as to demonstrate the skills and abilities required for the post Knowledge and understanding of the issues and legislation affecting estates and property issues and ability to negotiate on property and estates related matters Knowledge and understanding of keeping of financial records and the use of related IT systems Good negotiating skills Good level of IT skills and experience with Land Terrier and Geographical Information Systems To be able to Communicate effectively at all levels (excellent verbal and written skills) Special Conditions Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes BPSS check For more information about this role please see the Job Description/Person Specification.
