Job Location

Friern Barnet, United Kingdom

Job Description

Year 1 Phase Leader Are you an enthusiastic and committed teacher ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a talented Year 1 Phase Leader to join a dynamic two-form entry primary school in Barnet – a school that genuinely values its staff, fosters professional growth, and prioritises wellbeing. With 450 pupils on roll and a diverse, inclusive environment where 22% of students have SEND, our school is proudly accredited as a thinking and trauma-informed setting. As a Year 1 Phase Leader, you will benefit from a well-established, supportive leadership team, including a headteacher who has been with the school for over 10 years and is deeply committed to teacher development and wellbeing. Why This Role Stands Out: • Dedicated Wellbeing Day annually to support work-life balance. • Emphasis on smart workload management—verbal feedback and in-the-moment marking take priority, with in-depth marking required only in English writing. • Exceptional mentoring—ideal for both experienced educators and those in early career stages. • Weekly CPD, online training access, and participation in Barnet’s BPSI and ECT programmes. • Collaborative planning with a parallel Year 1 Phase Leader, plus established schemes and shared online resources. • Every KS1 class is supported by a dedicated TA to help you deliver engaging, high-quality learning. • Technologically equipped with whiteboards, laptops, and interactive learning platforms to enrich your teaching. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Year 1 Phase Leader to shape an engaging curriculum and support independent learning through trauma-informed approaches and cognitive load strategies.
