Job Title: Registered Nurse – Operating Room (RN - OR) Job Description: The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) delivers expert, evidence-based nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative process. The OR RN collaborates with the surgical team to ensure patient safety, prepare for a wide range of procedures, and maintain aseptic technique. This role involves circulating and/or scrub responsibilities in a fast-paced environment covering multiple service lines. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Prepares operating rooms with necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments based on case needs. Assesses patients prior to surgery and ensures proper documentation, including consents and pre-op checks. Monitors patients during procedures, maintaining sterile field and responding to patient needs and changes in condition. Functions as a circulator and/or scrub nurse depending on assignment. Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and other OR staff to ensure optimal surgical outcomes. Maintains compliance with infection control protocols, hospital policies, and safety regulations. Documents nursing care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR). Provides support for post-operative care, hand-offs to recovery teams, and assists with transport as needed. Qualifications: Education & Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing – Required Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – Preferred 1–2 years of recent OR experience with exposure to multiple service lines – Required Licensure & Certifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice – Required Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association – Required Moderate Sedation Certification – Required ACLS – Preferred or may be required based on case types
